Austrian Council of Ministers Authorizes Negotiation of Amending Protocol to Tax Treaty with Malta

During its meeting on 11 March 2026, the Austrian Council of Ministers authorized the negotiation of an amending protocol to the 1978 income and capital tax treaty with Malta, which is meant to align the treaty with OECD standards. Any resulting protocol would be the first to amend the treaty and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
