Bahrain and India Agree to Tax Treaty Negotiations

India's Ministry of External Affairs has issued a joint statement following the Fifth High Joint Commission (HJC) between India and Bahrain, which was held on 3 November 2025. Among other things, the statement includes that both sides have agreed to develop a common understanding to commence negotiations for an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
