Botswana Introduces Transfer Duty Amendments

The Botswana Unified Revenue Service (BURS) has published a Public Notice and Guidelines on the Transfer Duty (Amendment) Act 2023, which entered into force on 3 May 2023. Among other things, amendments include a reduction in the rate of transfer duty for non-citizens from a 30% flat rate to progressive rates of 10% on the first BWP 2 million and 15% on the excess.
