Brazil Social Security System Reform Proposed Including New Contribution Rates

On 20 February 2019, the Brazilian Government submitted a proposed bill (PEC 6/2019) in the National Congress for the reform of the social security system. One of the main aspects of the bill is a consolidation of social security rate tables for private employees and civil servants with a progressive rate table as follows based on salary:

• up to BRL 998 - 7.5%

• BRL 2,000.01 – 3,000 - 12%
• BRL 3,000.01 – 5,839.45 - 14%
