Brazil's Chamber of Deputies Considering Digital Social Contribution on Digital Advertising and Sale of User Data

Brazil's Chamber of Deputies is considering a draft bill that would introduce a new Digital Social Contribution (Contribuição Social Digital - CSD). The CSD would be levied at a rate of 7% on the gross revenue of digital service providers from:

• Digital advertising services that use data collected from users; and
• The sale or transfer of data generated by users located in Brazil or collected from Brazilian users during the use of a digital platform.

Certain revenues would be exempt, however…
