CJEU Confers Jurisdiction to General Court for Preliminary Rulings on VAT, Excise Duties, and Certain Other Areas

The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) has announced that the jurisdiction to hear and determine questions referred for a preliminary ruling is conferred on the General Court of the European Union in the following areas from 1 October 2024:
- the common system of value added tax;
- excise duties;
- the Customs Code;
- the tariff classification of goods under the Combined Nomenclature;
