Canadian Prime Minister Responds to U.S. Tariffs

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued a statement on 3 March 2025 concerning the U.S. tariffs on Canadian exports that took effect on 4 March 2025, including that a 25% tariff will be imposed by Canada on certain U.S. exports. Tariffs on Mexican exports took effect the same day, although amendments were made on 2 March to extend de minimis exceptions to the tariffs on small shipments from Canada and Mexico under USD 800.
