Czech Republic and Japan Agree in Principle on New Tax Treaty

Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a release on 13 March 2026, announcing that officials from the Czech Republic and Japan have concluded negotiations, with the parties agreeing in principle on a new income tax treaty. The new treaty must be signed and ratified before entering into force and, once in force and effective, will replace the 1977 tax treaty between Japan and the former Czechoslovakia as it applies in respect of the Czech Republic and Japan.
