European Council Approves New Customs Duty Rules for Small Parcels

The European Council has announced the approval of new customs duty rules for small parcels on 11 February 2026, abolishing the exemption from customs duties for parcels valued at less than EUR 150. From 1 July 2026, an interim flat rate customs duty of EUR 3 will be imposed on items contained in small parcels below EUR 150. Specific customs tariffs will start applying to all goods entering the EU once the EU customs data hub is operational, which is expected in 2028.
