Hong Kong Legislative Council's Bill Committee Advances Global Minimum Tax Bill

The Bills Committee of the Hong Kong Legislative Council has issued a report dated 19 May 2025 on the Inland Revenue (Amendment) (Minimum Tax for Multinational Enterprise Groups) Bill 2024, which provides for the introduction of a 15% global minimum tax in line with Pillar 2 from 2025. Among other things, the report confirms that the committee has no objection to amendments proposed by the government in April 2025 and will not propose any further amendments to the Bill.
