The Hungarian government has issued a release on the call for action by the Minister of EU Affairs against Bulgaria's new energy contribution (tax) on Russian natural gas, which is levied at a rate of EUR 10 per megawatt hour on the import or transit in Bulgaria of Russian natural gas, with the exception of compressed natural gas transported in storage containers. Bulgaria promulgated the law for the new energy contribution on 10 October 2023.
