India GST Council Approves Rate Change Recommendations and Annual Return Extension

India's Central Board of Direct Taxes has issued a release on the 14 March 2020 meeting of the GST Council. During the meeting, the Council approved certain GST rate change recommendations, which are to apply from 1 April 2020:

• an increase in the GST rate on Mobile Phones and specified parts to 18% from 12%;
