Malaysia and U.S. Sign FATCA Agreement

Malaysia's Ministry of Finance has announced the signing of an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the U.S. for the implementation of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). The IGA was signed virtually on 21 July 2021 and will be published on the U.S. Treasury FATCA agreements webpage.

Note - Malaysia and the U.S. earlier reached an agreement in substance for FATCA, with Malaysia treated as having an IGA in effect from 30 June 2014.
