Mauritius Cabinet Agrees to Signing Tax Treaty with Hong Kong

On 1 April 2022, the Mauritius Cabinet agreed to the signing of an income tax treaty (agreement) with Hong Kong. According to an overview of the 1 April Cabinet meeting, the treaty is in line with the OECD and UN models and complies with the OECD/G20 Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) recommendations. The treaty will be the first of its kind between the two jurisdictions and must be signed and ratified before entering into force.
