On 4 July 2022, the Executive Chairman of Nigeria's Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) announced via Facebook and Twitter that the deadline for companies to submit their tax returns for the 2022 year of assessment has been extended to 31 August 2022. Companies that file within this extension will not be subject to late filing penalties or late payment interest.
