Romania Introduces New Windfall Tax on Fossil Fuel Sector

Romania published Law No. 162/2026 in the Official Gazette on 4 August 2026. One of the main measures of the law provides for the introduction of a temporary windfall contribution (windfall tax) on surplus profits in the fossil fuel sector.
