The Swedish Ministry of Finance has announced a draft bill for a temporary reduction in the VAT rate on food to support households. This includes a reduction from 12% to 6% on foodstuffs, except alcoholic beverages and tap water. As proposed, the rate reduction would apply from 1 April 2026 to 31 December 2027.
