Treaty between Germany and United Arab Emirates – negotiations

A third round of negotiations will be held in October 2008 for a substantially new tax treaty between Germany and the United Arab Emirates. The present treaty was concluded for an initial period of 10 years, which expired on 1 January 2002. The German Ministry of Finance, however, calculated the 10-year period from 10 August 1996 (the date the treaty entered into force), and therefore the treaty would apply until 10 August 2006.
