Zambia Implements 2023 Budget Tax Changes

Zambia has reportedly implemented the 2023 Budget tax changes through various amendment acts, which generally apply from 1 January 2023. The tax measures of the budget are summarized as follows:

Direct Taxes

• Increase in the exemption threshold for PAYE from ZMW 4,500 per month to ZMW 4,800, along with a reduction in the second bracket (band) rate from 25% to 20% and other bracket adjustments:
